#Bleeding and swelling of the gums: causes, prevention and treatment

Bleeding gums or gum swelling can have various causes. If you find blood on the toothbrush or in the mouth after brushing your teeth, it is usually a bacterial infection of the gums or periodontium. The periodontium is the periodontium.

If the gums are inflamed and swollen, this is called gingivitis, while if the periodontium is inflamed, the blood indicates periodontitis. Periodontitis must be treated by your dentist or dental hygiene, because if the periodontium is diseased, there is a risk of tooth loss.

Regular dental hygiene and careful oral hygiene

When to the doctor?

If the bleeding continues, the gums are swollen and reddened, or if you experience pain and fever, you should see a dentist immediately.
